Release Your Anger: An Adult Coloring Book with 40 Swear Words to Color and Relax, Midnight Edition is exactly what the title says it is. Color your way through swear words and naughty sayings surrounded by beautiful doodles and designs. Many people "swear" that the swear word coloring books are the ultimate stress-relievers. Mandalas and mindfulness just don't do it for them.
The art in this book is really high quality. While the title of this book highlights the foul language, they are just the icing on the cake. You'll spend most of your time coloring in the detailed spirally, symmetrical designs. While James Alexander's recent books have incorporated more doodles, this book contains more clean-cut designs and patterns.
Fans say that your finished swear pages are the perfect gifts for that irritating person in your life. People don't seem to know the right way to respond to such beautiful profanity; their expressions are often priceless when they first see them. Leave them in your messy break room, or even in an angry coworker's cubicle (if you're feeling especially courageous). People don't know how to react when something you've put so much time and effort into making beautiful has a big fat expletive in the middle of it. It makes for a pretty funny people-watching experience. It's too bad this book isn't perforated; removing the pages may take some extra effort.
With forty detailed drawings, you'll get a good amount of use out of this coloring book. It's not one you're going to blow through in a couple of days. That being said, it's not one of those books that will have you working on a page for a month or more. The designs are just detailed enough to be interesting without being impossible to finish. It shouldn't be too difficult to complete one of these pages in a single sitting.
The quality of the paper in this book is great, just like all of James Alexander's selection. You don't have to worry about most ink products bleeding through the page. Since all the pages are one-sided, this is even less of a worry. That means that art markers, alcohol markers, Sharpies, and pens are all fine to use in this book. The pages are nice and thick; they can handle the ink.
This is the Midnight Edition of the book, which refers to the black background page style. All of the designs are printed on black pages. That removes the often daunting task of deciding how to fill in a wide-open background. Plus, it really makes the colors "pop" when you finish coloring the page. Yeah it means fewer coloring opportunities, but it sure does look cool.
Overall, we consider this book another win for Mr. Alexander. If you're looking to try out a swear word book or a black background book for the first time, this one covers both bases. The high quality paper stock means you won't have to worry about pens and markers ruining your untouched pages. This is a seriously awesome coloring book.
